Frugal Friday

Every time my sons bring home worksheets that they've done in school I put them in a basket next to my desk. 99% of the time there is writing only on one side of the worksheets. When I need to print something off my computer that's only semi-important, I put these worksheets in my printer and print onto the blank side of the papers. This saves me money while saving some trees!

Frugal Friday

My son's birthday was this week, and he received a rather large Nerf gun from his younger brother. As usual, this toy was secured in its packaging as if it was as valuable as the gold at Fort Knox! There were many thick wire twist ties of various sizes keeping the gun tightly held in its box. After my son patiently worked the toy out of the box, I gathered up all the twist ties and stored them away. They'll be perfect to use this summer when we need to stake our tomatoes and any other plants. I'm sure I'll find other uses for them as well. You never know what odds and ends may be needed for science projects and crafts!

Another thing I save is the wax paper bag that comes in a cereal box. I wash it out and either reuse it as a storage bag or cut it so I can lay it out flat when I am baking and need to roll out some dough. I also save the cardboard tubes from paper towels and rolls of toilet paper for craft projects. When I began saving the bags from cereal boxes, I decided to use a paper towel tube to store them neatly. You can either roll the bags and stick them inside the tube or roll them around the tube and secure with a rubber band.

Frugal Friday!

If any of you shop at Rite Aid (I'm in Pennsylvania) and you have saved your receipts dating from November 25 thru December 24, 2007, you could receive a Rite Aid gift certificate worth up to $20. Go to their website and register to be a Gift of Savings member. Then enter your receipt information and request your certificate. You have until January 23, 2008, to do this to be eligible to receive a gift certificate. I believe the certificate then expires on April 26, 2008. I did this today! I also recently received a $5 rebate check from Rite Aid. It can all add up!

I'm Back for Today

I knew it would happen. As soon as my 4 week break was over with last summer and I headed back to work, I stopped writing. My job keeps me very busy, as does my family. My energy is usually zapped by the end of each day.

I have a love/hate relationship with my job. I love working with children, but I hate the politics involved on the administrative side. Yes, even within a church, office/business politics invade the work place. My job is part-time, but my husband calls it the most full-time part-time job he has ever seen. However, my work place is very family friendly, and it provides a way for me to minister to others. This is a major plus!

Unbeknownst to all but my family and my assistant, I am getting ready to announce my resignation from one of my positions at work. I keep wondering if I'm doing the right thing. I have always felt that the Lord gave me this position two years ago in order to grow me. Although, from the beginning, I have felt like Moses and have continually begged, "O Lord, please send someone else to do it." (Exodus 4:13) I believe the Lord responded to this request by sending me my own personal Aaron, a.k.a., my assistant. However, I think "Aaron" and I are up against a whole slew of Pharaohs at this church, and I have grown very weary. I feel as if I've "done my time" and am longing to quit and pursue other ventures, not to mention have more time with my family. I know my husband and children would like to see me return to only teaching three mornings a week. On the one hand, I feel the need to obey my husband as the Lord directs wives to do. On the other hand, am I moving in His will and His timing or my own? I don't want my free will to get in the way of His plans for me. I also have this nagging feeling that I'm supposed to bring about some kind of change for the better at this church.

My friends in Christ, please pray for me as you can see that I am somewhat conflicted here. Many blessings to you all, and I hope to return soon!

But Moses said to God, "Who am I, that I should go....?" And God said, "I will be with you." Exodus 3:11,12
