The King of "Pop"

Like everyone else, I was shocked to hear of Michael Jackson's death yesterday. I agree that he was a very talented artist even though his music wasn't really my taste. However, I am displeased with how everything seemed to stop last night due to his death. There are so many other important things and sad things going on in our world, and I think we are really out of balance in the way that we treat celebrities.

Please don't get me wrong...there are many celebrities whose passing has made me sad. I'm in no position to point fingers. It just worries me that our society (and the media) makes these people out to be more important than they really are, or in other words, makes idols out of them. I pray that the world will begin to pay more attention to the King of Kings rather then the King of "Pop" or anything else.

Leslie,

I couldn't agree with you more. Literally everything last night after the news on Michael Jackson death, was dedicated to him. Interviewing fans, reviewing old movie videos. It lasted until we went to sleep. How sad is it when everything else going on in the world stopped or didn't matter.

It just wasn't news worthy.

Sad, just sad all the way around. Sad at the way the news media handled it and continues to handle it even today.

Totally agree Leslie! Glad you said this. The coverage was pretty full on in the UK too on Sky news etc. Of course it is sad for his family but it is way way over the top.

I agree - once again society has put the spotlight on a pedophile and made him appear to be a great hero.

I am saddened by his death but mainly because it's not likely he had a relationship with Christ and therefore didn't enter into Glory.
